Other ideas...

Fill it to the brim with any kind of HOLIDAY candy for any season! Stuff it with some festive ribbon...
This is a horrible picture, but you can stick one of those battery operated flickering teelights(sp?) in there! I left the ribbon in there with it once, and it was super cute with that light in it!

One more idea.............

Fill it up with COFFEE beans!!! You can even use our new stamp set "A Sip" to make a lil note. You could tie up a spoon or rock candy sugar stick to the side for a gift! I stuck some peppermints on top of this one! who doesn't love peppermint coffee! LOL
Share some of your ideas!

NEXT...............

This is the NEXT thing I wanted to share from my recent 'hobby lobby' purchase I shared in earlier posts! This is a clear card from CTMH! LOVE 'em! Punches were 50% off last week & I have been wanting some scalloped circle punches... for cards and stuff! I got a 1 inch and a 2 inch circle punch. So I was just walking through the paper aisle that was also 50% off ( i try to JUST go through the sale aisles!)- when I saw this paper I knew EXACTLY what i was going to do with it! Check it out!
PUNCH PUNCH PUNCH- So cute! Clear cards are so much fun to create!
The key to clear cards is strategically placing everything so that is works together! Decor on front needs to match up and overlap coordinating areas on inside BECAUSE you can see the 'inside!"
TU-DAH! Cant wait to do some Christmas clear cards! :-)
See first (top) photo for completed view of closed card! ;-)

Random stamping and creating your own paper!

remember this photo?? See the 12 x 12 piece of paper underneath the others? I LOVED it so much I wanted to see if I could 're-create' it! I have SOOOO much paper like so many others its coming out my ears- BUT I have to buy it if I see something I just cant pass up- like these two sheets. Im in hobby lobby quite often so passing their paper isn't a big deal to me- but when its 50% off I like to go browse for something. I came out with these 2 pieces! Tomorrow I'll share what i did with the other cute one but today RANDOM stamping! I posted a long time ago 'rubberband' stamping. I thought this technique would give me a great subtle background to start on... CTMH has MANY stamps that are 'background' stamps also but today I wanted to try this.. Wrap rubberbands around the block, ink it up, and stamp liek normal.. you can use whatever size rubberbands you want. i used the smaller ones and kept it in a pattern. I used 'creme brulee' on colonial white CS.
Tu-DAH!

Random stamping cont...

The key to 'random' stamping is giving it a little order.. I know that defeats 'random' stamping in theory! ha! But if you are doing an entire page it helps! I start in a corner and work down. Even if you have to go off the page to do it.. Just picture something like wallpaper or wrapping paper.. Try to stay close to a pattern. Here I am using Autumn Terracotta b/c its the color I want to show most so I'm doing it first and with the most words. :-) Leaving spaces so that I can strategically place other colored words in between.
Next, I used a smaller block with about 2-3 'words' on it and used barn red. The color I wanted to pop out at me secondly.
I used dessert sand to randomly stamp 1-2 words to keep it neutral but to fill up my page. Next I used pear (second generation) and cranberry ink to add a FEW leaves to give color, texture and to fill in some gaps. I thought it turned out not half bad. What do ya think??? :-)

Spaghetti Jack-o-Lanterns!

These were so much FUN to make! Supposedly kids love them too- my 2 year old eats NOTHING! So it was no surprise to me when he didn't give these a second glance. All you need are orange peppers and spaghetti! Make your spaghetti like always and set aside. Cut out jack-o-lantern faces on the peppers. Clean out the insides with your fingers. Cut the tops off and fill with the 'sketti!' I warmed mine up in the oven for a few minutes!

Magic Pretzels

Or the book called them "mother load pretzels.' I thought that was funny. I call them 'magic pretzels' b/c they have a lot of the same ingredients as magic bars. Either way they are YUMMY! You need Pretzel rods (I bought the smallest bite size ones I could find), kraft caramels, tblspoons heavy whipping cream (or evaporated milk), white chocolate chips, and whatever else you want to roll them around in.. I used pecans and toasted oatmeal mixture (from my caramel apple recipe) for my white chocolate, and for the caramel pretzels I rolled them in a mixture of coconut, butterscotch chips, chocolate chips, and chopped walnuts! WOW! Melt your white chocolate in a saucepan. Melt your caramel in a separate saucepan. I added the milk as need to mix. Use a whisk for the caramel after it starts to melt so you don't have to add so much milk or cream. :-)

Feature Friday

I am NOT a creative cook so I rely heavily on other sources! Ever year I cant help myself from buying way too many Fall/Halloween magazines. Its a weakness! I do however READ them and make LOTS of cool goodies (i'll be posting two super FUN recipes tomorrow!) Taste of Home has always been one of my favorites (except for October issue of Southern Living which TOTALLY blew this year- gonna have to fire their new editor! BLAH!) Anyway- their website is ALSO FULL of awesome ideas. If you click on 'recipes' and scroll down (past the 'healthy' tab- hahah) you will come to 'holidays.' Lots of festive ideas! I did not make the cupcakes below but aren't they cute! http://www.tasteofhome.com/

Hobby Lobby Deals

I know I'm not the only one who has to know what Hobby Lobby is offering EVERY week at 50% off! If you go to hobby lobby and get a FEW things each week- you should never have to pay full price! For example - below is what I got yesterday... Paper 50% off ( i only got 2 sheets- wow!) punches 50% off ( i don't have many punch b/c I mostly scrapbook- but when i started making cards they just make it easier than cutting circles from your cricut all the time) Two glass jars 50% off (cannot wait to show you what I've done with these!) and cello bags. (not 50% off but dirt cheap & I use them as gift bags ALL the time! All this for right at $20.00! :-) I had never noticed the 'cone' shaped cellophane bags before- I immediately thought of the orange jellybeans at Easter with green ribbon like a carrot- I thought it might also work with candy corn. QUICK, easy, and CUTE for trick or treaters or co workers! LOVE IT!
If you wanted to get really creative.. you could stamp a tag to tie on....
STAY TUNED over the next couple days to see what else I done with this stuff I bought! I was trying to think outside the box a little. I knew exactly what I was going to do with it all as soon as I saw it!

Olivia November WorkShop Layout

This is the layout we'll be doing at our November CLUB workshops! It uses our new Pear, Smoothie, and Sunset inks! So pretty! This layout features our sanding kit! Instead of edge distressing everything in ink- we've softened it up a lot by sanding the edges of everything - even the photos!
Here the mini medley "Pear" collection is used- the ribbon & the ribbon slide match perfectly! LOVE these new shimmer brads! Also a 'pear' button from the mini medley kit!
By using the 'stubble' tool with matching ink - you can add texture to the edges of your paper!
The new opaques add just the perfect touch to make a page look 'polished.'

More trick or treating 'HAPPIES!'

This is a great idea for those 'special' trick or treaters like grandchildren, nieces, or nephews. Also cool if you want to do something unique for Bible class students or school class students! They take about 5 minutes to make one! Start out with your favorite paper and a 'spooky' stamp set!
First you want to cut down your 'pocket' to a 6 x 7 1/4 piece of paper.
Score with your embosser tool at 1/2 inch and 2 3/4.
Stamp on it if you want! Be sure to fold in the scored lines - just slightly and stamp on the OUTSIDE. Fold it up (crease folds pretty good) apply glue to bottom and on the lil 1/2 inch flap.
I used my corrugated tool to 'crinkle' the bottom up just a tad. Just for looks really but it also helps hold a bit better. It will still work if you don't have one. For the paper in the middle -cut paper to 6 x 2 1/2. I used a solid piece of cardstock (purple) and then used a piece of patterned paper as well. (see photo above or below for the patterned paper.) The second paper will be cut 6 x 2.
Score both of these papers at 1 1/2 and 4 1/4. It will fold and wrap around perfectly! To finish it off use a ribbon punch or HOLE punch will work fine too. Punch at top of FRONT of pocket. You will need about 19 inches of ribbon. Slide the ribbon through and tie in a knot about 2 inches from top of your ribbon (see pic below) Slide in a candy bar and when you pull the ribbon out the candy bar comes with it! :-)
Now the candy bar should be a lil 'tighter' than this BUT at first I bought a KING size Hershey bar- it was too bulky- I set out to find a 'regular' size Hershey bar. I saw this one that has almonds & it was smaller than the regular. My thinking was it would fit better right? nope a tad too small for my pattern. Any rate- it works but I would suggest the 'regular sized Hershey bar! ;-) If you make any - let me know how they turned out & email me a pic! :-)

Feature Friday!

okay - two sites again! I'm always worried they aren't good enough! Ha! Today's however should pertain to many- Lots of people are getting cricuts now! (have you seen the ad for the new one- WOWSA!) Anyway - a friend of mine Barb Carrico (this years Spirit of CTMH 2010 award winner!wahoo Barb!) anyway..... shared this site with me. If you go out to http://www.cricutsearch.com/ you will be able to 'search' for an item or word in their search tab and it will pull up a cartridge/cartridges for that item! I typed in 'coffee' and it brought up over 20 cartridges that had a coffee cup, the word coffee, or anything related to coffee AND showed a photo of it! Very nice! I also typed in "life is good" an interestingly enough found TWO cartridges! This last one is pretty good if you are a camping over achiever- I am NOT! Ha HA- But it still has many cool things. I have found some cool campfire stories to tell! It has games, songs, skits, and other neato ideas for outside or camping! http://www.ultimatecampresource.com/

Needle in a haystack?

NOT THESE!!! Yum- I love Fall food! These are sooo simple and I PROMISE you they will be eaten! Butterscotch chips- melted- mix in chowmein noodles.. Drop onto wax paper and let 'set.' WONDERFUL!
